Science and Tarot – Well I've Seen It All Now!

There's a new tarot deck just released – the Science Tarot. This unlikely combination of ideas brings together the tarot, art, science and mythology to create a unique addition to the tarot world. The creators of the deck said their aim was to bridge disparate communities of scientists, artists and tarot enthusiasts and foster both science education and self-discovery.

The basis for interpreting the cards is also very interesting. The Minor Arcana interpretations are based on Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey. While the the Royal cards feature famous scientists – using their personal life stories as metaphors for a life of discovery and creativity. The Major Arcana, on the other hand, is structured as the story of the creation and evolution of the cosmos and the reader is invited to find their own story within this greater archetype.

Here's a quote from the website http://bit.ly/ScienceTarot for the Major Arcana card ” Stars of Creation” (see the illustration):

“We begin our journey with the stars, where the elements that form planets and generate life are manufactured. Through astronomy and cosmology, we explore our human impulses to survive and create.

The deck includes 78 cards of original science-themed artworks and a 100 page booklet that walks you through the deck,
including new science-based spreads (quoted from the website).

You can order your deck at Amazon (unless your Canadian like me which means you'll have to wait till after Christmas :(
